Ladder lock
Ladder lock for 50 mm (2in) wide straps. It is used for attaching D-rings to the harness or for securing the straps in the backplate against slipping through. It is made from stainless steel. Its main advantage is its thickness (4 mm, 5/32 in), which is more than twice the standard size. With such thickness the strap is bent twice almost to a right angle, which significantly increases the friction coefficient compared to lock made from thin steel. Additionally, it is not deformed even when strained a lot, which is not true for thin locks. The edges of the lock do not damage the strap, as they are all rounded and polished. The weight of the lock is 32 g (1.1 oz).
