Information
Anti-shutoff clip for ADV sliding isolation valve

Inspired by and in collaboration with US-based cave explorers Gary “Deco” Donahue & Robert “Bob” Beckner this small clip can be utilized to prevent the accidental shutoff of the Membrane ADV’s sliding isolation valve. In particular this is a handy solution for those divers using Liberty Sidemount as a bailout rebreather where accidental shutoff of this valve could result in the implosion of the membrane and subsequent flooding of the rebreather. Most divers using Liberty Sidemount as a bailout tool have removed this isolation valve however some divers are using the same rebreather as their primary unit on other dives so they have kept the isolator valve in place. There is an eye on the clip for tying a short leash so the clip cannot be lost if removed underwater. Those in thick gloves may desire some additional leash for finding and removing the clip underwater.

Maximum exterior dimensions are 26 x 20mm (0.79 x 0.98in)

Final results will vary based on your 3D printer, material, and settings but with PETG & 100% infill the weight is +/-1.0g (0.035oz)

Warning! Use of this device obviously adds an additional step in the process of disabling a free-flowing ADV. This small clip may be hard to find underwater, with glove on, and in a stressful situation. It is recommended that divers implementing this device practice diluent valve shutdown procedures prior to removal of this clip and refer to their training/instructor for best practices.
